Honda "Turning Points"
In my life outside of writing, I’m a voice actor. Though my “everyday” work comprises mostly web videos, eLearning, telephony (voicing for phone systems) and audiobook narration, I occasionally get lucky and book what I like to call a “Cadillac” job.
Mostly commercial gigs, they come through my agent (love you, WME!) and may or may not have involved a casting director (this one did; big thank you, Voicecaster!). Instead of self-recording at my home studio, I get to go to a fancy-shmancy outside studio where they have cappuccinos, fully stocked kitchens and every personal care item under the sun in their bathrooms. The session is typically easy-breezy fun, and usually doesn’t last more than an hour.
I loved getting to work on this one for Honda. It’s a sweet campaign, entitled “Turning Points”. I appreciate the theme of being true to yourself and “following your own path” - a directive I believe in and have tried to live by. The tone is inspiring and made me reflect upon my own story, which would have read something like:
“I used to get in trouble for talking in class...Now, I make a living doing it!”
It’s currently running - maybe you’ve seen it? Out here on the West Coast, I haven’t, but friends and family in New York report that they have. I play the airline pilot - the third voice in (the only female voice, so that makes it easy!).
